Children's Liturgy

The Liturgy of the Word with Children, often referred to as ‘Children’s Liturgy’, is a common liturgical activity in both churches of our parish, offering our children the opportunity to listen and respond to the Sunday Gospel at an age-appropriate level.

The children gather at the start of Mass and go to their own meeting room, with our parish catechists, to listen to the Gospel, sing and take part in short activities designed to help the children consider how they can live out the Gospel in their daily life. They return to Mass at the offertory. Parents of pre-school children are welcome to come and join in with their children.

Parish catechists are members of the parish congregation and we are always looking for more volunteers to take turns in leading the Children’s Liturgy. We currently have 4 teams in St Patrick’s and 1 team in St Mary’s. If you are interested in joining the team of catechists, please speak to Fr Robert, or come and join the children in their liturgy to see what we do.
