Easing of restrictions for church attendance

The relaxation of restrictions has to be done on a local level, and the North West has a high level of infection. Consequently the Bishop has asked us to move cautiously, as we ease restrictions as follows:

  • The Sunday obligation will continue to be suspended until the First Sunday in Advent.
  • Masks are not obligatory, but are recommended in church
  • Standing/kneeling is now permitted
  • We would ask people to socially distance, as best they can to protect the vulnerable and to ensure that everyone coming into church feels safe.
  • We would, for the time being, like to keep the system of receiving Holy Communion via the central aisle, and returning to your seat via the most appropriate side aisle.
  • Holy Communion will continue to be given under one kind
  • There is no sign of the peace
  • Numbers for baptisms and funerals have increased from 30, but within reason, so that we can ensure safety for all.
  • Only one child can be baptised at a time (unless they are from the same family)
  • The Bishop has advised that congregational singing is not appropriate at this time.
